We are excited to introduce to Travis Palmer, you our new Executive Director!  Travis comes to us from Boise, Idaho and brings with him knowledge and experience working with Chamber membership and developing programs during his time working for the Boise Area Chamber of Commerce.   We’re confident his outgoing attitude and style will be a great fit for the position and a perfect fit to be the face of the Chamber.  We encourage you to take this opportunity to introduce yourselves, let him know what the Chamber does well and share with him what additional programs and services we could provide.

Greeters – Village Green Coffee Shop, 725 Row River Road, 8:00am

The Cottage Grove Greeters is a volunteer group consisting of Chamber members in good standing that aids the Chamber in welcoming new business people and their firms to the greater Cottage Grove area. They promote business-to-business networking by hosting monthly Business after Hours, hold ribbon cuttings for new businesses or established companies that have reinvented themselves. The Greeters welcome delegates to special events or conventions held within the community, and sponsor an annual Business Faire that allows community businesses to highlight their company as one of their fundraising events for various charitable and educational purposes.

We have extended the deadline to receive your nominations for Business of the Year and First Citizen.  Submit yours today!  New deadline to receive nominations is Friday, December 9 by 5:00pm.  Forms are available on our website http://cgchamber.com/?page_id=86

Below are the qualifications to be eligible for either award:

First Citizen Nominee Guidelines

The recipient of this award will have demonstrated leadership and dedication, and put forth efforts that have contributed to the improvement to the community and its citizens.  Please submit the name of the individual whom you feel is worthy of this prestigious award.  Don’t count on someone else submitting the name.  Don’t let a valued member of our community miss out on this well deserved recognition!!

1. Resident in the community for a minimum of 3-5 years

2. Involved in at least one community and/or civic activity or organization

3. Nominee will submit a biography to the Chamber at least 14 days prior to the Awards Banquet

Business of the Year Nomination Guidelines

This recipient business and its employees of this award will have demonstrated outstanding business practices and involvement in the community.  Nominations shall be for commercial enterprises.

1. Must be a Chamber member in good standing for a minimum of 3 years

2. Demonstrated progressive business attitude that promotes Cottage Grove

3. Actively supports the community through school and city functions

4. Demonstrated involvement by both employer(s) and employee(s)

This month November 17th – 5:30 to 7:30 Business after Hours will be hosted by HEALTHY EXPRESS at 2637 E. Main St.  A healthy dinner will be served with snacks and refreshments!  There will be MANY door prizes!!!  FUN FUN FUN!   Your attendance reinforces the spirit in which the Chamber provides these monthly networking activities.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Mark your calendars and plan to attend our 63rd Annual Awards & Installation banquet.  The chamber banquet is a time to recognize those in our community who have given so much through volunteerism and excellent business practices. Oregon Covered Bridge Festival – In Historic Downtown Cottage Grove

This year’s festival launches with the Cottage Grove High School Home Coming Parade at 2:00, followed by fun afterschool kid activities sure to be a blast! Join us Friday evening for a new experience at the Pitchfork Steak Dinner at the Centennial Bridge at 5:00pm, the dinner is Hosted by the Cottage Grove Kiwanis Club, just $15/plate and proceeds go to support our local youth. Then work off that dinner doin some boot scoot’n with local square dancers and end the night with the fabulous Oregon Old Time Fiddlers and that’s just the first day! Saturday highlights are:

8:30 Breakfast at the Centennial
9:00am Dedication of the new Interpretive Plaque and rededication of the Centennial Bridge
10:00am Guided bus tour and dedication of Interpretive plaques for the Currin, Stewart and Dorena Covered Bridges
1:00pm Pioneer Kid Games at Bohemia Park
2:00pm Punkin Chunkin at Bohemia Park
2:30pm Scenic Bikeway Celebration! The dedication ceremony and bike ride on Cottage Grove’s newly declared Covered Bridge Scenic Bikeway.
