We hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and a safe New Year!  To start off the new year, we will be implementing some changes to enhance our “Chamber Weekly”.  Look for more information in the coming weeks.   We want you to know we are committed to continuing our efforts to promote the economy and business environment of the Cottage Grove area so its citizens and businesses will prosper.  We look forward to celebrating many successes with you in 2012!<br />

<p>We are excited to introduce to Travis Palmer, you our new Executive Director!  Travis comes to us from Boise, Idaho and brings with him knowledge and experience working with Chamber membership and developing programs during his time working for the Boise Area Chamber of Commerce.   We’re confident his outgoing attitude and style will be a great fit for the position and a perfect fit to be the face of the Chamber.  We encourage you to take this opportunity to introduce yourselves, let him know what the Chamber does well and share with him what additional programs and services we could provide.</p>
<h3>Thursday, December 8</h3>
<p><strong>Greeters – Village Green Coffee Shop, 725 Row River Road, 8:00am</strong></p>
<p>The Cottage Grove Greeters is a volunteer group consisting of Chamber members in good standing that aids the Chamber in welcoming new business people and their firms to the greater Cottage Grove area. They promote business-to-business networking by hosting monthly Business after Hours, hold ribbon cuttings for new businesses or established companies that have reinvented themselves. The Greeters welcome delegates to special events or conventions held within the community, and sponsor an annual Business Faire that allows community businesses to highlight their company as one of their fundraising events for various charitable and educational purposes.</p>
<p>We have extended the deadline to receive your nominations for Business of the Year and First Citizen.  Submit yours today!  New deadline to receive nominations is Friday, December 9 by 5:00pm.  Forms are available on our website <a href="http://cgchamber.com/?page_id=86 ">http://cgchamber.com/?page_id=86 </a></p>

<p><strong>Oregon Covered Bridge Festival – In Historic Downtown Cottage Grove</strong></p>
<p>This year’s festival launches with the Cottage Grove High School Home Coming Parade at 2:00, followed by fun afterschool kid activities sure to be a blast! Join us Friday evening for a new experience at the Pitchfork Steak Dinner at the Centennial Bridge at 5:00pm, the dinner is Hosted by the Cottage Grove Kiwanis Club, just $15/plate and proceeds go to support our local youth. Then work off that dinner doin some boot scoot’n with local square dancers and end the night with the fabulous Oregon Old Time Fiddlers and that’s just the first day! Saturday highlights are:</p>
<p>8:30 Breakfast at the Centennial<br />
9:00am Dedication of the new Interpretive Plaque and rededication of the Centennial Bridge<br />
10:00am Guided bus tour and dedication of Interpretive plaques for the Currin, Stewart and Dorena Covered Bridges<br />
1:00pm Pioneer Kid Games at Bohemia Park<br />
2:00pm Punkin Chunkin at Bohemia Park<br />
2:30pm Scenic Bikeway Celebration! The dedication ceremony and bike ride on Cottage Grove’s newly declared Covered Bridge Scenic Bikeway.</p>
