Your Chamber

The Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce is organized to promote the economy and business environment of the Cottage Grove Area so that its citizens and its business community shall prosper.  All necessary means of promotion shall be provided and particular attention and emphasis shall be given to the economic, civic, commercial, cultural, industrial and educational interests of the area.

What is it?
The Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary organization of approximately 250 area businesses who have joined together to advance the commercial, financial, industrial and civic interests of Cottage Grove. The Chamber is a clearinghouse, a public relations firm, a legislative representative at local, state and national levels of government, and information bureau and a research and promotion agency for our community.

How Does it Work?
Action groups – called committees, are the backbone of our Chamber. They involve active members working together, studying problems, seeking solutions and exploring new ideas. Busy men and women give their time, talents and energies to help our community realize its potential.

How is it Funded?
The Chamber is supported by the financial investment of its members and by special projects that promote our membership. Any business or individual wishing to play a role in Cottage Grove’s growth and development is eligible for membership. Investments are determined according to classification of business and number of employees. Chamber membership is an investment in the Cottage Grove area.

How is it Organized?
The membership elects a representative group known as a Board of Directors to direct the affairs of the organization. The group formulates policy and accepts responsibility for a properly financed and managed organization. The Board of Directors is responsible to the membership of the organization. The Board of Directors employs an Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for the management of the organization, the hiring and supervision of the staff and the implementation of program policy.
