Chamber Greeters

If you are unaware of what and who the Greeters are ... The Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Greeters were formed on November 24, 1987 as a committee of the Chamber of Commerce.... We are the fun part, but in order to have fun, we also work and that is the fun part!

In 1988 and 1991 we brought the Circus to town and it was held in the field where Wal-Mart is located. That was fun! We started the "Valo-gram Program" with the help of the Grovetones and did singing grams, that was fun! Then there was the Bingo Booth at the W.O.E. We purchased our very own covered bridge float which you see around town at different events.

In 1991 we started our first Golf Scramble at Middlefield and hosted that event for 9 years, until many other groups and organizations wanted to have a Golf Scramble so we bowed out. The Chamber and the Greeters held our first Casino Nite, first at the Elks and then at the Village Green. Then after the Casino Nite went away, the Greeters began the Cottage Grove Business Showcase at the Armory.

In between all these accomplishments we visited new businesses coming to town and welcomed them. We purchased the first metal bench for Coiner Park. The Greeters have maintained an active Scholarship Program for graduating High School students. This program receives support from the Dessert Dash held at the Chamber Awards Banquet.

The Greeters also raise money through support of a variety of activities and by selling raffle tickets at the Concerts in the Park held each Wednesday mid-June through mid-September from 6:30 - 8:00pm. You will also find the Greeters hosting Business After Hours and holding Ribbon Cuttings to support our local Business Community.

Now you know! And if this sounds interesting to you and you would like to venture out with us..... in fun and work.....come join us.
